Roof Types We Work With
Maryland homes span a range of roof materials and pitches. We assess each property individually before any system design begins.

County Permitting
Solar permitting in Maryland is handled at the county level, not by the state. Requirements, fees, and review timelines differ between Montgomery County's Department of Permitting Services (DPS) and Prince George's County's Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE). HOA review, where applicable, adds a separate layer that runs in parallel.
We prepare and submit all permit documentation for your county and manage correspondence with the reviewing office. We cannot quote fixed approval timelines. They are set by the permitting agency, not by us. Maryland has generally streamlined residential solar permitting in recent years, but specific timelines depend on current agency workload and project complexity.
Utility Interconnection
Maryland homeowners in our service region are typically served by Pepco (most of Montgomery and parts of Prince George's County) or BGE (other parts of Prince George's). The interconnection application process and review timeline vary by utility.
We submit the interconnection package, respond to utility review requests, and coordinate any required meter upgrades. Net metering is available to qualifying Maryland residential customers under the state's net metering law, but the specific billing credits depend on your utility tariff and contract structure. We explain these during your consultation rather than quoting a number in advance.
Ownership, PPA, and SREC Allocation
Maryland homeowners have the same structural choice as DC residents: outright purchase, a solar loan, or a Power Purchase Agreement. The allocation of Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) and any available incentives depends on which structure you choose.
Purchase and loan
You own the system and retain SRECs. Maryland's SREC market (MD-RECs) is separate from DC's. Prices reflect local utility renewable portfolio requirements and fluctuate with market conditions. Consult a tax professional regarding federal credit eligibility; the Residential Clean Energy Credit was available through December 31, 2025, per IRS guidance.
Power Purchase Agreement
The system owner retains tax incentives and SRECs. You pay a contracted per-kWh rate for the electricity the system produces. Confirm SREC and incentive allocation in writing before signing any PPA.
Maryland Clean Energy Programs
Maryland's former Residential Clean Energy Rebate Program was phased out after fiscal year 2025. The state now operates the Maryland Solar Access Program, whose application windows, funding, and contractor eligibility can change from round to round. Verify current availability directly with the Maryland Energy Administration before counting on any grant. Maryland also offers a solar property-tax exemption for qualifying installations.
